An inspiring neighborhood – coexistence of contrasts

Schönhauser Allee is a major thoroughfare running from Berlin-Mitte through Prenzlauer Berg to Pankow. Over its three-kilometer length, many beautiful side streets branch off into the neighborhood, making the area one of Berlin's most exciting neighborhoods.

Schönhauser Allee is also a trendy strip that tells part of Berlin's history: named after Schönhausen Palace, built in Pankow in 1691, the first trees were planted along the avenue in 1695, and the first house was built in 1704. Today, renovated historic buildings stand alongside modern office and commercial buildings. Here, the department stores of major fashion chains haven't displaced the small Berlin fashion, art, and design shops. That's what makes creative work here so enjoyable!
